On its second Monday, Dhurandhar The Revenge experienced the lack of momentum that strikes films far earlier. In just 12 days, the spy thriller has earned about ₹1400 crore internationally, making it an all-time blockbuster.
It now needs to maintain its initial pace in order to surpass Pushpa 2, Baahubali 2, and eventually Dangal on the list of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. The film starring Ranveer Singh grossed ₹240 crore worldwide on its first day, including ₹75 crore from paid previews.
The film grossed over ₹1000 crore in its first week, making it the second-fastest to achieve the milestone behind Pushpa 2. Dhurandhar 2 grossed more over ₹170 crore on its second weekend. The domestic collection reached ₹847 crore net, setting a new record for Bollywood films.
Despite a fall in collections on Monday, the film still earned ₹25 crore in the domestic market. After 12 days, the Aditya Dhar film’s domestic collections have reached ₹872 crore net (₹1042 crore gross). In terms of domestic box office collections, it trails only two other pan-India films, Pushpa 2 and Baahubali 2. The film has been a huge success overseas as well.
It had a great $7 million opening, grossing more over $22 million in its first weekend abroad. Despite a midweek lull, the picture regained momentum in the second weekend. In the process, it has become the highest-grossing Indian film in North America, breaking the nine-year-old record held by Baahubali 2.
This brings the film’s global earnings to ₹1392 crore gross. The film now ranks behind only Dangal (₹2070 crore), Baahubali 2 (₹1788 crore), and Pushpa 2 (₹1724 crore). Dhurandhar 2 did not have a release in the Gulf countries. Nonetheless, it has risen to the top 15 list of Indian films with the biggest worldwide collections. Its $38 million collection even outperformed all-time blockbusters like Bobby ($29.4 million), Sholay ($28.2 million), and Pushpa 2 ($31 million).
Apart from Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar 2 reunites R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Aditya Dhar directed the spy thriller, which was released on March 19. The first Dhurandhar grossed ₹1300 crore globally and is still showing in theaters three months after its December premiere. The sequel is estimated to generate around ₹2000 crore.
