According to officials on Thursday, two people have been arrested by police for allegedly defrauding people by fabricating social media profiles of prominent Delhi-based figures and Haryana ADGP Alok Mittal. The accused have been named by the police as Munfaid (27), who lives in Pachgaon village, and Sahid (20).
On Tuesday evening, the two were taken into custody. Three cell phones and six phoney SIM cards were found by the police. Screenshots of the cybercrimes and phoney Instagram accounts were found on the devices.
According to the police, the suspects exploited fictitious accounts they had made to swindle people through a number of scams by posing as Haryana ADGP Alok Mittal and a well-known figure from Vasant Kunj. The defendants admitted to their crimes after questioning. After being produced in court, they were placed under judicial detention. According to a police representative, more investigation is being conducted.
