2 men jump into Lok Sabha from gallery, MPs say they sprayed a yellow-colored gas; Watch

On Wednesday, two people jumped into the Lok Sabha from the public gallery, causing chaos. According to Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the intruders were carrying tear gas canisters. The event took place during Zero Hour proceedings.

While one guy was spotted jumping over the Lok Sabha benches, another was seen dangling from the public gallery and spraying tear gas. The Lok Sabha members, as well as the watch and ward staff quickly overpowered the intruders. In reaction to the security breach, the session was delayed till 2 p.m. by BJP member Rajendra Agrawal, who was presiding over it.

Concerns were raised about the security failure, especially on the day marking the death anniversary of those who died in the 2001 Parliament attack. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury emphasized the importance of conducting a review of security measures to avoid such incidents in the future.

Details of the incident were shared by Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi in a post on X. He witnessed two young guys releasing foul-smelling yellow gas from canisters inside the Parliament gallery. MPs rushed to apprehend the intruders and one individual could be heard raising slogans.

The incident raises concerns about the need for a comprehensive review of security systems inside the Parliament complex to prevent such incidents in the future.
