6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes Punjab; sends tremors across North India

An earthquake of 6.1-magnitude struck Punjab at 10.34 PM on Friday, sending tremors across north India, including Delhi-NCR and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

HT reporter in Punjab’s Ludhiana said people were seen on the roads as the tremors jolted the region at least twice. However, there was no immediate report of loss of lives or casualties.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted after the quake, saying he is praying for everyone’s safety.

Tremors were also felt in Pakistan’s Islamabad, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces.
