Japan sells 80 tons of gold to battle health crisis

In a unforeseen and historic move Japan has sold 80 tons of gold used for minting coins. This is done so the government of Japan can battle corona virus crisis. From the sale of gold the government has gained 500 billion yen ($4.84 billion) that could be used for funding research and development at various universities.

Japan is currently in debt twice the size of its country and battling corona induced recession and with its recent law to provide free vaccination its spending levels have increased.
