Despite losing to Novak Djokovic in the French Open men’s singles semifinal on Friday at the Philippe Chatrier Court in Roland Garros (Paris) by scores of 3-6, 7-5, 1-6, and 1-6, Carlos Alcaraz displayed excellent tennis skills. The Spaniard got off to a rough start and dropped the opening set 3-6. Alcaraz, though, fought to defeat Djokovic 7-5 in the second set. The world number one had a good start in the third set but soon suffered cramps and was forced to abandon a full game while receiving treatment. The 20-year-old soon suffered losses of 1-6 and 1-6 in the fourth set.

Alcaraz, the reigning US Open winner, had some impressive shots combinations that shocked Djokovic. The Serb had to fight hard for every point until the third set when fitness determined the winner.

With the game tied at 1-1, Alcaraz showed his full talent in the second set. In the third game, Alcaraz received a straightforward forehand return, to which he responded well. Djokovic responded, followed by a backhand from Alcaraz and then the Serbian drew the youngster closer to the net. Djokovic struck it well above Alcaraz’s reach after receiving it from him again. But Alcaraz came back, turned and hit a brilliant shot to take the point.
