Luke Bryan defended his fellow judge of “American Idol” Katy Perry – Read Now

Luke Bryan, a fellow judge of “American Idol,” is defending Katy Perry following a season that saw both highs and lows for her.

The ‘Dark Horse’ singer has been a judge since the show’s return in 2018; but, during the most recent season, she provoked outrage among fans for different statements she made to candidates, at one point even receiving criticism, according to People magazine. Bryan recently lauded Perry in an appearance with Fox News, saying that Perry is accustomed to ignoring unfavourable attention.

“Katy Perry‘s been dealing with stuff like that her whole career,” he said, quoted by People. “We all get it. I mean, we’re judging kids that people at home fall in love with. We’re not gonna bat 1,000 as judges. I think we get set up. As judges, you know, we kinda fall on the sword a lot of times,” he said. “And get set up to where people can get very vocal on socials and stuff. My thing is, I think when me and Lionel and Katy sit down at the desk, in our hearts, we’re doing the best we can.”

According to People, Perry came under fire from viewers this season after making a joke during tryouts about contestant Sara Beth Liebe, a mother of three kids, having been “laying on the table too much.” Perry tried to persuade Liebe to continue in the competition, but she left after accusing the ‘Firework’ singer of “mom-shaming” in a TikTok video. Liebe later expressed gratitude for the programme and for Perry, indicating that their relationship was cordial.
