Toni Kroos has agreed to a contract extension with Real Madrid and will remain with the club next season, the Spanish giants confirmed on Wednesday. The previous contract of the 33-year-old midfielder was set to expire at the end of June, but he will now continue for a 10th season at Real Madrid.
“Real Madrid CF and Toni Kroos have agreed to extend the player’s contract, which remains linked to the club until June 30, 2024.”
“Toni Kroos arrived at Real Madrid in 2014 and is already the German player who has defended the shirt the most times of our club, with 417 matches.”
“In his nine seasons as a Real Madrid player, he has won 20 titles: 4 Champions League, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 3 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups,” read the statement.
Carlo Ancelotti, the club’s coach, has previously stated that he anticipated Kroos and fellow midfielder Luka Modric, 37, to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu for another season.
Last week, Madrid signed England’s young midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for more than 100 million euros ($108 million), boosting a midfield that already included Fede Valverde and French youngsters Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga.
