One more African cheetah died in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park (KNP) on Tuesday, a senior forest department official said.
The male cheetah, which was named Tejas, was brought from South Africa to India, in February this year. He was around four-year-old, revealed the officials.
“Cheetah Tejas, aged around four years, died in KNP due to suspected infighting,” Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) Wildlife J S Chauhan told PTI.
The animal was brought from South Africa by the Indian government as it move to bring back the population of Cheetahs in India. The ambitious projects was initiated after the species went extinct in the region around a decade back.
