Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has that in the event of his party is banned, he will float a new political party to contest in the upcoming Pakistan’s general elections. He went on to add that he will also win the general polls, Dawn, a Pakistani English newspaper, reported citing Nikkei Asia.
Post the violent protests in all over the country on May 9, which were followed clampdown on the protests and the PTI, many government officials had called out for a ban on the party.
The country’s Interior Minister Rana Sanauallah had said that the only solution was to ban Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
While the Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that a move to the effect was being considered, Foreign Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also stated that his party will resist any move to impose ban on PTI.
Answering the question, Nikkei Asia, of the party being banned by, Khan stated, “If they remove the party then we will form a party with new name and still win the elections.” Khan added that his political party will win, even if he is disqualified and jailed.
