The Karnataka Legislative Assembly, on Wednesday, witnessed dramatic scenes as the BJP MLA threw up the Bills passed and threw them towards Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Lamani.
Ten BJP MLAs – Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, R Ashok, Araga Jnanendra, Vedvyas Kamath, Yashpal Suvarna, Arvind Bellad, V Sunil Kumar, Umanath Kotyan, Devraj Muniraj, and Bharat Shetty – were suspended following the incident.
The BJP legislators staged a protest at the well of the House over the Congress government in the state deputing IAS officers to welcome the leaders of the opposition parties arriving to Bengaluru to attend the two-day meeting.
Amidst the jist, the government passed five Bills in the Assembly. Soon after the Bills were passed, Speaker U T Khader did not adjourn the parliament for lunch and rather decided to discuss the budget. He asked his deputy Lamani to officiate the proceedings, which infuriated the BJP MLAs and they intensified the protest.
Marshals of the House had to interfere as BJP Legislators threw copies of passed Bill on Lamani, who has occupied the Speaker’s chair. He accused the BJP Legislators of targeting him as he hailed from Dalit community. The House was then adjourned for lunch.
