The Central Bureau of Investigation will conduct probe into the incident of two Kuki women who were forced to parade naked by a group of Meitei men. The video of the same incident had gone viral on the internet.
As per the sources, an official have also informed PTI, that the government is seeking trial outside the violence-hit Manipur. The trial is expected to be held in neighbouring state Assam, said the official, as per Mint.
A 26-second video had triggered outrage among the whole country where two women were stripped naked and paraded and were led into some field. One of the victims of sexual assault was allegedly gang raped.
The incident took place on May 4, a day after violence broke out in the north-eastern state. However, the video went viral two months after it.
Post the outrage, the police nabbed 7 accused, including the main culprit, who was visible in the video too.
The women of the state also staged protest and out of anger, a group of women also burned down the culprit’s house.
