Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping talks on need to stabilise relations: Government confirms eight months after Bali

Eight months after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s meeting in Bali at G20 Summit, the government confirmed that the two leaders talked about stabilising “bilateral relations.”

In November last year, the conversation between two leaders was caught on camera, but it was not clear as to what the leaders talked about at the Summit dinner. The Indian official has stated that both PM and President, who were attending the G20 dinner hosted by Indonesian President, exchanged courtesies at the conclusion of the dinner.

However, this week when National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi in South Africa on the sidelines of meeting of BRICS NSAs, the Chinese Foreign Ministry mentioned “important consensus” between Xi and Modi at the Bali summit.
