When Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were teenagers growing up in Boston, they first met. Their loyal and devoted friendship pushed them to the very top of the entertainment industry. The two stars have worked together on several occasions, some of which have resulted in Academy Award nominations.
Prior to becoming Oscar darlings, the two shared an apartment with Affleck’s brother Casey. The three young men were all hoping to become actors in Los Angeles. While Affleck remains friends with Damon, he said that living with him was an experience he wasn’t eager to try again.

Affleck and Damon lived in Los Angeles with Affleck’s brother Casey when they first started out as actors. However, Affleck’s experience sharing an apartment with Damon wasn’t all that pleasant.
Affleck appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden in April 2023 and talked about his bond with Damon. However, Affleck also stated that he would not recommend anyone sharing a living space with the actor.
“Matt’s a beautiful guy. I love him. He’s my best friend. He’s been great to me my whole life. He’s a brilliant guy. I would not suggest living with him,” Affleck said.
He added, “He has an ability … you know people who block things out? One of the things he blocks out is the idea that when you finish with something, it has to be washed or thrown away.”
Affleck even stated that he and Casey once went two weeks without cleaning. They ultimately gave in after discovering maggots growing in the flat. “God bless [Damon’s] wife, Lucy. There’s a place for you in heaven,” Affleck joked.
