Selena Gomez fought hard to keep her 2011 song ‘Who Says’ alive because she thought her fans really “needed” it.
Selena released a song titled “Who Says” with her band Selena Gomez and the Scene when she was still popular from her time working with Disney. Her fans love the song because it tells the story about standing up to those who criticize you. Surprisingly, the song was almost sung by a different artist.
Quoted by Pop Crave on X, the singer said, “I was working with Disney at the time, and they were actually giving the song to another artist. I cried because I loved the song so much. I basically said to my label, ‘I feel like my fans are young and they need it.”
She added, “That’s all I kept saying because I was 16 at the time. I was like, ‘I think my fans really need it; tell [them] my fans really need the song.’ Maybe it just didn’t work out with the other artist, but that was a gift to me that I did not know I needed. I love that song, and it has carried with me through my whole career, and I fought for it. To be honest, I, to this day, need to hear it.”
Gomez recently stated that she will be returning to the music world with a new solo single while working on her forthcoming solo album. She’s appeared on a number of tracks in recent years, including her latest hit “Calm Down” with Rema.
The actress from ‘Only Murders in the Building’ is all set to release her new song, ‘Single Soon,’ soon. In the song, she spoke about how she plans to end a relationship with an ex-partner.
