Mumbai Ulemas reject Chinese vaccine containing pork gelatin

Muslim scholars, otherwise known as Ulemas, met in Mumbai on Wednesday to decide that a Chinese vaccine against COVID-19 is not permissible to the people belonging to the Islamic religion. They decided that consuming pig is ‘Haram’, or strictly prohibited by Islamic laws and cannot be consumed even if it is in a vaccine.
UAE’s highest Islamic authority, the UAE Fatwa Council, on the other hand, has regarded the vaccine as permissible for Muslims even if it has pork in it.
