Did Anakin kill Padme in Star Wars? Here’s everything you need to know

Queen Padme Amidala was the Naboo’s leader and a Senator in the Galactic Republic before her tragic demise. She was also Anakin Skywalker’s secret wife before he became Darth Vader. The two star-crossed lovers married in a private ceremony because Anakin was forbidden from being married by the Jedi order because he was a member. The story of Anakin’s turn to the dark side and eventual death will be well known to the majority of Star Wars fans, but how did Padme die?

Did Anakin Kill Padme?

Padme died of a broken heart after watching Anakin turn to the dark side. This happened right after she gave birth to the Skywalker twins, Luke and Leia. Many rumours indicated her death was caused by problems with childbirth or by Anakin choking her on Mustafar, although these were never confirmed.

The medical droids who were assessing her after her return from Mustafar provided the best explanation for her death.  One of them provides the following explanation to Obi-Wan Kenobi: “Medically, she’s completely healthy. For reasons we can not explain, we are losing her. we don’t know why. she has lost the will to live. Medical droid explaining why Padme is dying.”

While several Star Wars fans are disappointed with the reason for Padme’s death, it is the best canonical evidence available.
