Danny Masterson might be expected to support his family throughout his 30-year rape prison sentence.
Bijou Phillips, the “That 70’s Show” actor’s spouse, filed for divorce in Santa Barbara Superior Court on Monday, claiming irreconcilable differences, according to court documents acquired by Insider. The application came less than 2 weeks after he was found guilty in a high-stakes re-trial in Los Angeles for raping two women.
Phillips requested spousal support and complete custody of their 9-year-old daughter in the petition for the dissolution of their marriage, however, she stated that she would still permit the kid to visit their father.
“Ms. Phillips has decided to file for divorce from her husband during this unfortunate time. Her priority remains with her daughter,” Peter Lauzon, Phillips’ attorney, stated in a statement, per journalist Yashar Ali. “This period has been unimaginably hard on the marriage and the family. Mr. Masterson was always present for Ms. Phillips during her most difficult times of her life. Ms. Phillips acknowledges that Mr. Masterson is a wonderful father to their daughter.”
Following Masterson’s conviction, sources close to Phillips informed People that she would support her husband and had no intentions to divorce. She filed the necessary paperwork less than a week later.
Phillips’ petition states that the couple’s separation date is “TBD.”
