In an interview with SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Snoop Dogg recalled an incident that upset Michael Jackson. Cohen inquired whether Snoop had ever met MJ when he was alive. The singer responded with more than just a happy ‘yes’; he also shared a story that upset MJ. He explained how he failed to create a good first impression, citing an interaction with the King of Pop during a fashion show performance for designer Christian Audigier.
“Me and Michael was family,” the Doggyland singer stated, adding, “We never had issues. Only issue me and Mike had was, we was at … Ed Hardy—Christian Audigier, he had an event in [Las] Vegas.”
He recalled what happened backstage at a big event when he had just charmed the crowd and the atmosphere was electric. In the e next room, the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, was preparing for his show. “But where they (organiser) messed up: they put Michael Jackson’s dressing room right next to Snoop Dogg’s. So Snoop Dogg was doing this,” the singer proceeded to share the story.
He added that somebody claimed Michael Jackson was just next door, relaxing in his dressing room, which sparked his curiosity. “No it ain’t.’ They like, ‘Yeah it is.’ I’m like, ‘Hold on.” Cracking the door open, he let out a cloud of smoke, landing face-to-face with the King of Pop himself! “[Michael was] right there looking at me. He stated, ‘Snoop, don’t do that,’” Snoop jokingly shared impersonating MJ’s voice.
According to TMZ, the incident occurred during Christian Audigier’s, the creator of Ed Hardy, birthday party in Las Vegas in 2008. Despite this, their strong friendship was unaffected by the incident.
