Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a Kolkata hospital after complaining of chest pain on Saturday morning, as per reports. According to sources close to the actor, he was feeling uneasy, so he was taken to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment, as reported by India Today.
The hospital has not yet released a statement, and the actor’s family has not responded to reports of his hospitalisation. Mithun, who was last seen as a judge on the dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance was awarded the Padma Bhushan in January 2024. The actor is one of the 17 Padma Bhushan recipients this year.
Mithun Chakraborty, who has appeared in about 350 Indian movies in the languages of Tamil, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri and Hindi, among others, previously stated that he could not believe he was receiving the Padma Bhushan.
The 73-year-old actor, whose career stretched roughly five decades and who made his acting debut in Mrinal Sen’s Mrigaya, said in a video message last month, “After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honour… It is a feeling I can’t express. I am dedicating this to all my fans in India and abroad, who have given me unconditional love.”
