TMC to boycott three TV Channels; Blames them for promoting Anti-Bengal Propaganda

On Sunday, September 1, 2024, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced via their ‘X’ handle that they would be boycotting three Bengali TV news networks: TV9, Republic, and ABP Ananda. They claimed the channels were promoting a “anti-Bengal” agenda.

“We also clarify and request the people of West Bengal not to be mislead by individuals portrayed as party supporters, sympathisers on these platforms during discussion or debates as they are not authorised by the party,” the TMC said on social media platform ‘X’.

Additionally, they urged the people to oppose the “anti-Bengal nexus.” The TMC claimed that because of the current enforcement fits and investigations their promoters and businesses are facing, the TV networks feel obliged to “appease the Zamindars of Delhi.” Following the rape and killing of a medical intern at R.G. Kar Hospital, the State Government is dealing with intense criticism and widespread demonstrations from laypeople and junior physicians throughout the State.

Even after the State Government threatened to file FIRs against junior doctors, they claimed that they will continue their strike in order to demand justice and a proper investigation into their colleague’s rape and murder.
