Train Derailment averted Near Kim Station after Fishplates and keys found on Tracks

A potential disaster was averted near Kim Railway Station in Surat after miscreants tampered with the railway tracks. Western Railway’s Vadodara Division reported that unidentified individuals removed fishplates and keys from the UP line track, placing them back on the same track. The damage was quickly addressed, and services were restored without delay. Authorities are investigating the incident, marking the third such derailment attempt in the region this month.

Earlier this month, two other attempts to derail trains were reported, raising serious concerns about public safety and the security of railway operations. Investigations are underway to identify those responsible and strengthen track monitoring to prevent future incidents.

In other developments, significant progress has been made on the ambitious bullet train project. On September 19, the foundation work for eight bullet train stations in Gujarat was completed. Pramod Sharma, Director of the Bullet Train Project, emphasized the technological leap India is making with the high-speed rail initiative, underscoring the importance of public awareness and support for the project.

Meanwhile, efforts to install noise barriers along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor are underway. These barriers, measuring 2 meters in height and 1 meter in width, are designed to minimize noise generated by the train and its infrastructure. Each panel weighs between 830-840 kg and will help reflect and distribute aerodynamic sounds produced by the train’s movement.

As India pushes forward with rail modernization, safety remains a pressing concern, with authorities stepping up efforts to safeguard passengers and rail operations.
