Atishi Marlena takes Oath as Delhi Chief Minister; becomes youngest CM in Delhi

On Saturday, Atishi Marlena, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), took the oath of office as Delhi Chief Minister. She is the youngest person to hold the position of CM in Delhi.

Atishi met with Mr. Kejriwal before taking the oath of office, along with AAP leaders who are in her government. The newcomer to the Sultanpur Majra assembly, Mukesh Ahlawat, serves as the face of Atishi’s ministry. Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Imran Hussain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj are the others. As new ministers, they all swore an oath.

Atishi quotes, “It is an emotional moment for me as he (Arvind Kejriwal) will not be the Chief Minister. He understood the pain of every person. He ensured free treatment for people, worked to improve the lives of the students of government schools, brought the provision of free bus rides for women.”

“I assure you that since Kejriwal has come out of jail now, we will not let any conspiracy of the BJP succeed,” she also adds. After Sheila Dikshit of the Congress and Sushma Swaraj of the BJP, Atish is the third female chief minister of Delhi.

In the former Arvind Kejriwal administration, the Kalkaji MLA was responsible for several responsibilities. In a special session on September 26–27, she must demonstrate her government’s majority in the 70-member assembly. The AAP, which wants to hold onto power in the Delhi assembly poll early next year, is hoping that Atishi’s promotion to the top position comes at a critical moment. She will need to expedite long-overdue public welfare policies and programs.

Atishi joined the AAP in 2013, but she remained in the background, advising the government on education issues. It wasn’t until 2019 that she entered the political arena, losing to Gautam Gambhir of the BJP in the East Delhi Lok Sabha contest.
