Malayalam actor Bala, also known as Balakumar, has been arrested by the Kadavanthra police in Ernakulam, Kerala, following a complaint lodged by his ex-wife, singer Amrutha Suresh. The charges against Bala include outraging a woman’s modesty and violations under juvenile justice laws, according to a report by Manorama.
The situation escalated after Bala’s former driver, who worked for him for three years, came forward with testimony that he witnessed multiple instances of Bala allegedly assaulting Amrutha. The incidents reportedly occurred in front of their 12-year-old daughter, Avantika, and other family members. The driver also shared a social media post, revealing his decision to speak out, saying, “I don’t want to hide anything since their relationship is over. Bala had ill-treated her in a brutal manner.”
In response, Bala claimed that Amrutha was preventing him from seeing their daughter. However, Avantika released a video, accusing Bala of being disrespectful towards her and her mother. Bala later responded in his own video, stating he no longer wished to be involved with his daughter if she felt that way.
Amrutha’s complaint highlighted Bala’s breach of their divorce agreement, which prohibits public insults. She also stated that his social media posts and interviews were distressing to both her and their daughter. Bala, a popular figure in Malayalam and Tamil cinema, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations.
