On Thursday, the Mumbai Traffic Police received a threatening message via WhatsApp, demanding ₹5 crore from Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The message warned that if the actor failed to pay, his condition would be worse than Baba Siddique’s, referencing the enmity with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Mumbai Police confirmed the threat, stating, “₹5 crore has been demanded from Salman Khan in order to resolve the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi.” In response, security around Khan’s residence has been intensified.
This comes as the Navi Mumbai Police recently arrested Sukhbir Balbir Singh, alias Sukha, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, in connection with a plot to kill Salman Khan. Singh was apprehended from Panipat, Haryana, and had allegedly given a contract to Bishnoi gang members to assassinate the actor. The gang had planned to use sophisticated weapons sourced from Pakistan, including AK-47s and M16s, to execute their plot.
The investigation revealed that Bishnoi’s gang had deployed 60 to 70 members to monitor Khan’s movements at his Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse, and shooting locations. Officials also noted the involvement of minors being groomed as sharpshooters.
The ongoing threats follow a series of incidents, including a firing outside Khan’s home in April and a threat letter found in 2022. Khan has since expressed concerns over the gang’s continued efforts to harm him.
