Sputnik-V approved in Pakistan for emergency use

Pakistan has approved Russian vaccine Sputnik-V for emergency use after approving China’s Sinopharm vaccine and the vaccine by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Another vaccine named CanSinoBIO from China has completed clinical trials in Pakistan. The Drug Regulatory Authority in Pakistan approved the vaccine for emergency use. Sources said that the vaccine has been approved under the Drug Act 1976, Section 7 (Hindustan Times). A pharmaceutical company in Pakistan specifically asked for permission to use the vaccine and is granted permission for the next three months till April.

The frontline health workers will get vaccinated first as mandated by the Pakistan government.
