Aaron Taylor-Johnson gives his biggest response yet to those James Bond rumors

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been at the center of speculation about becoming the next James Bond, and while the franchise’s producer Barbara Broccoli has not yet confirmed his casting, the actor’s responses to the rumors have sparked intrigue.

During a recent Good Morning America interview promoting Kraven the Hunter, host Michael Strahan asked if Taylor-Johnson would be willing to slip into 007’s tuxedo. Taylor-Johnson’s response was subtle but telling: “I love slipping on a tuxedo.” When Strahan pressed, “to play 007?” the actor cheekily smiled and diverted the conversation back to his current movie, Kraven the Hunter, which he teased would be packed with action. While his answer was not a confirmation, the playful tone and hesitation seemed to suggest that there’s more to the story.

Similarly, at the Kraven the Hunter premiere, when asked directly about the James Bond rumors, Taylor-Johnson again avoided a straightforward answer, shifting the focus back to his current project: “Come see Kraven, it’s not going to disappoint.” This evasive response has become his signature when the Bond subject comes up, leaving fans to read between the lines.

The rumors about Taylor-Johnson taking on the iconic role have been persistent, especially after claims surfaced in March 2023 that he had already completed a secret audition for Broccoli and that the role was essentially his if he wanted it. However, the production insiders quickly denied those reports, leaving the speculation to continue.

Broccoli has made it clear that the next Bond should be in his 30s, possibly non-white, and willing to commit to a long-term franchise, which fits with Taylor-Johnson’s profile. Along with Taylor-Johnson, other names being thrown around include Richard Madden and Regé-Jean Page, both of whom are in their 30s.

While we wait for an official announcement, Taylor-Johnson’s responses continue to fuel the speculation—without ever outright denying the possibility of him becoming the next 007.
