Josh Gad recently shared a memorable story about his early days in Los Angeles, recalling an unforgettable encounter with Jeff Goldblum. On Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, Gad reminisced about how a college girlfriend had invited him to meet her boyfriend, who lived in a place called Mount Olympus—an address that sounded as mythical as it was intriguing. He described driving through heavy rain, feeling like he was heading into a “kingdom” that could belong to Greek gods or, in this case, Hollywood legends.
When he arrived, he was met by a giant gate that felt straight out of Jurassic Park. To his shock, when the door opened, the boyfriend was none other than Jeff Goldblum, wearing a matching bathrobe with his girlfriend. Gad described the experience as a surreal “welcome-to-Hollywood moment.”
Inside, the trio sat in a “triangular seating arrangement” and played a game based on the Meisner Technique, a well-known acting exercise. Goldblum instructed Gad to repeat words after him, leading to a hilariously awkward moment. Gad jokingly recalled, “I’m pretty sure his b*ll s**k wasn’t hanging out, but was pretty close to it.”
Gad went on to explain that Goldblum had invited him to audit one of his acting classes in Los Angeles, an offer that would help launch Gad’s own successful career. Gad later earned a Tony nomination for his role in The Book of Mormon. As for Goldblum, he was recently seen in the musical Wicked, continuing his iconic Hollywood presence.
