Big news for The Last of Us fans: Season 2 is officially set to launch in April 2025! The announcement came straight from Sony during their presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 6, 2025. The excitement doesn’t end there, though. In addition to the Last of Us update, Sony also revealed that a movie adaptation of the popular video game Horizon Zero Dawn is in the works, produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony PlayStation. This is a notable shift from the previous plans to adapt it into a Netflix series.
Neil Druckmann, the creative head behind The Last of Us and the video game studio Naughty Dog, confirmed that the second season will continue the gripping story. Season 2 will pick up five years after the events of the first season, with Joel and Ellie facing new conflicts in an even more dangerous world.
In addition to the season confirmation, a short teaser released on Max’s YouTube channel introduces viewers to a new character, Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever. Fans are eagerly anticipating how Abby’s character will play into the unfolding drama and tension.
It looks like 2025 is shaping up to be a major year for The Last of Us and its expanding universe!
