Beyoncé is stepping up to support victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. Her nonprofit organization, BeyGOOD, announced on Instagram on January 12 that it is donating $2.5 million to an LA Fire Relief Fund.
“Los Angeles, we stand with you,” the caption read, emphasizing that the donation will help families who lost their homes in the Altadena/Pasadena area. The funds will also provide essential resources to local churches and community centers assisting those affected by the disaster.
BeyGOOD encouraged people to visit their website and contribute to relief efforts. Meanwhile, the L.A. County Medical Examiner reported a rising death toll since the fires began on January 7. At least 16 people lost their lives in the Eaton fire zone, while eight more fatalities were recorded near Palisades. The LA Fire Department stated that the Palisades fire alone has burned over 23,000 acres, with only 11% containment.
Beyoncé isn’t the only celebrity offering support. Stars like Tika Sumpter, Halle Berry, and Eva Longoria have also contributed to relief efforts. Longoria, in particular, donated $50,000 to This Is About Humanity and shared an emotional message on Instagram.
