Don Cheadle recently shared his experience of the wildfires in Los Angeles during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on January 20. The actor revealed that he and his family had to evacuate their home as the fire was dangerously close, about five or six blocks away. He hasn’t returned to his house yet, only going back the day of the interview to ensure everything was okay.
Cheadle explained that, after evacuating, they moved between hotels, one of which was evacuated while they were staying there. Eventually, they ended up at another hotel, where they were asked to leave due to the large number of evacuees. Currently, Cheadle and his loved ones are staying in a friend’s home, where they’ve been sleeping in the children’s room—complete with a Billie Eilish poster on the wall.
Many other celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Anthony Hopkins, Adam Sandler, Leighton Meester, and Adam Brody, have also been affected by the devastating wildfires. The emotional and physical toll on residents in the impacted areas has been immense, but the actor’s lighthearted sharing of the situation highlights the resilience of those affected.
