Travis Kelce recently addressed criticism from rapper Lil Wayne about the Kansas City Chiefs’ performance in their game against the Houston Texans. On the New Heights podcast, where he sat down with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis discussed the controversial referee call that drew attention during the match.
After the game, Lil Wayne took to social media to express his frustration, tweeting, “I hate cheating azz Cheifs.” Travis, clearly unbothered, responded with a playful shout-out: “Shout out to Tunechie, man.”
Jason chimed in, mentioning that the whole world seemed more focused on the referee’s decisions than the actual game. He referenced the complaints that were swirling online, including Lil Wayne’s tweet, which had fans debating the calls. The specific moment that sparked controversy was when the Texans were penalized after one of their players made contact with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, leading to a penalty that fans, including Lil Wayne, considered questionable.
Despite the criticism, the Chiefs went on to win the game 23-14. Fans of both teams voiced their frustrations about the calls, with some taking to X (formerly Twitter) to complain. One fan wrote, “These refs are ridiculous… How is that a flag on the Texans?? Mahomes slid way too late. Awful.” Another added, “NFL refs when Patrick Mahomes gets touched.”
Looking ahead, the Chiefs are on track to face the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans, assuming the Eagles beat the Washington Commanders in their upcoming game.
