HBO recently announced an abrupt ending of The Righteous Gemstones after its Season 4

The Righteous Gemstones, one of HBO’s fan-favorite series, is set to conclude with its upcoming fourth season. After nearly two years since the release of Season 3, the final season will be premiering this March, though the exact release date is yet to be confirmed.

Creator and star Danny McBride, who has been deeply involved with the show since its inception, shared that he felt it was time to wrap up the series. Speaking to Variety, McBride humorously referenced divine inspiration, saying, “The Lord spoke to me and said it’s time to wrap this s*cker up.” He promised that the final season would provide a sense of closure with well-crafted themes, characters, and ideas, giving the show a “complete” feel. McBride also teased that the conclusion will be “wild,” filled with dramatic twists and turns.

The fourth season’s official logline hints at major changes for the Gemstone family: “When the spoiled Gemstone children finally get their wish to take control of the church, they discover leadership is harder than they imagined and that their extravagant lifestyle comes with a heavy price.”

For those unacquainted, The Righteous Gemstones centers around the Gemstone family, a group of over-the-top televangelists and megachurch pastors. The series follows patriarch Dr. Eli Gemstone, played by John Goodman, and his children—Jesse (McBride), Kelvin (Adam Devine), and Judy (Edi Patterson)—as they navigate both family drama and their lavish, sometimes corrupt, lifestyle. The show first premiered in 2019 and has continued to garner a large, dedicated fan base.
