Champions Trophy, AFG vs ENG: Ibrahim Zadran shines with a century as Afganistan fights back after early blows

Afghanistan’s opener Ibrahim Zadran completed his century off 106 balls in the 37th over of the game against England. This is Zadran’s first ODI century against England, his first in the Champions Trophy. Zadran took a single on the third ball of Liam Livingstone’s over to reach his milestone.

However, this is his second century in ICC ODI events as he made a century in the 2023 ODI World Cup. During his knock of 100 runs, the 23-year old batter scored six boundaries and three maximums with a strike rate of 94.34. With this ton, Ibrahim has completed 7 centuries in ODI cricket.

With the Afghani opener still at the crease with Azmatullah Omarzai’s support from the other end, the team will look to at least cross 250 runs mark in the remaining 13 overs, as the duo has already completed a 50-run partnership.
