Ben Stiller isn’t one to hold back when it comes to praising his colleagues, and he recently shared his admiration for Adam Scott while reflecting on their work together. The two actors first teamed up on the 2013 film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, but it was their collaboration on Apple TV+’s hit series Severance that truly deepened their professional bond.
In an interview with People magazine, Scott recalled his experience working with Stiller on Walter Mitty, describing it as “so fun” and saying he “loved working with Ben.” So, when Severance came along years later, Scott was eager to reunite with him.
Stiller, best known for Night at the Museum and Zoolander, admitted he hadn’t imagined they’d end up doing a television series together. However, he was thrilled to have the opportunity, explaining that he had been a fan of Scott’s even before Walter Mitty. When he read the pilot script for Severance, Stiller said Scott was the “first and only” actor he envisioned for the role of Mark.
He also shared that working on Severance had been even more rewarding than their 2013 film, largely because the long-running nature of a TV series allowed them to collaborate more deeply. “We’ve had more time to get to know each other and work together as producers, and it’s really been great,” Stiller said.
In Severance, Scott plays Mark, an employee at Lumon Industries who undergoes the mysterious “severance” procedure, which splits his consciousness between work and personal life. Stiller serves as both director and executive producer on the show, which has become a critical and fan favorite.
