Jeremy Allen White will lead Netflix’s forthcoming limited series Enigma Variations

Jeremy Allen White is set to lead Netflix’s upcoming limited series Enigma Variations, an adaptation of André Aciman’s 2017 novel, Variety reports. The series is currently in development, marking Aciman’s second major screen adaptation following Call Me By Your Name (2017), which starred Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer.

Enigma Variations follows Paul, a bisexual man navigating a lifetime of intense and ever-evolving romantic relationships. According to Aciman, the novel explores “moments” in Paul’s sexual life, examining his shifting desires and his recurring attraction to “incomprehensible” partners.

Jeremy Allen White, best known for The Bear, is the only confirmed cast member so far. The adaptation will be directed by Oliver Hermanus (Moffie, Beauty), with Amanda Kate Shuman (The Following, Berlin Station) serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Aciman and White.

White, who has won multiple Golden Globes and Emmys for The Bear, is also set to portray Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.
