Anthony Mackie is set to conquer the Brave New World with the upcoming Marvel movie

Anthony Mackie is gearing up to take center stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson in Captain America: Brave New World. With his character stepping fully into the role of Captain America and facing off against the formidable Red Hulk, anticipation for the film is at an all-time high.

As excitement builds for the upcoming movie, a past interview of Mackie has resurfaced online, where he reflected on one of the most emotional moments in MCU history—Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame. In a candid conversation with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Mackie admitted that the moment was so powerful that it would stay with him and the entire cast for a long time.

Recalling that time on set, Mackie shared, “I remember one day, Kevin came by while we were filming, and we were talking about how it was going to take us all a while to move on from Endgame—both as actors and as fans. It was such a massive, emotional event, a true culmination of everything we had worked toward.”

Filming that scene was especially moving for the cast, which included Marvel heavyweights like Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, and many more. The emotional weight of that moment, both on and off-screen, made it clear how impactful Endgame was for everyone involved.

Shifting the focus back to Brave New World, Mackie took a moment to acknowledge Chris Evans’ legacy as Captain America, praising the foundation he laid for the franchise. He expressed his excitement for the future, saying, “Just like The First Avenger set the stage for everything that came after, I feel like Brave New World is another crucial building block for what’s to come in the MCU.”

Fans won’t have to wait too long to see Mackie’s Captain America in action—Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theaters on February 14.
