Jessica Gunning signed her new first role after winning an Emmy for her performance in Baby Reindeer

Jessica Gunning has joined the cast of Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming dark comedy The Christophers, rounding out a star-studded lineup that includes James Corden, Ian McKellen, and Michaela Coel.

Gunning, who recently won an Emmy for her portrayal of Martha in Netflix’s Baby Reindeer, continues to capitalize on her breakout success. The Christophers follows the estranged children of a once-famous artist who hire a forger to complete their father’s unfinished work, hoping to sell it posthumously.

The film reunites Soderbergh with longtime collaborator Ed Solomon, with Michael Schaefer and Mike Larocca financing the project through Department M.

Beyond this film, Gunning has a busy slate, having wrapped The Magic Faraway Tree, an adaptation of Enid Blyton’s beloved children’s books. That project boasts an impressive cast, including Rebecca Ferguson, Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, and Nicola Coughlan.

Meanwhile, Ian McKellen has The Critic, Hamlet, and The Good Liar in the pipeline, while Michaela Coel is set to star alongside Anne Hathaway in A24’s Mother Mary.
