The 2025 Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) celebrated outstanding performances and creative achievements in both film and television.
Cillian Murphy was a standout, winning Best Lead Actor for the second consecutive year for his role in Small Things Like These, a poignant indie historical drama based on Claire Keegan’s novel. The film also triumphed as Best Film of the year. In his acceptance speech, Murphy highlighted the powerful storytelling of the movie, where he plays a coal merchant uncovering dark secrets at a local convent.
The Best Lead Actress – Film award went to Saoirse Ronan for The Outrun, while Best Supporting Actor – Film went to Brían F. O’Byrne for Conclave, and Best Supporting Actress – Film was awarded to Saoirse Ronan for her role in Blitz.
The TV series Bad Sisters emerged as the Best Drama, with Sharon Horgan winning Best Script – Drama for her work on the show, and Dearbhla Walsh winning Best Director – Drama.
In the international categories, Demi Moore won Best International Actress for her role in The Substance, and Ralph Fiennes won Best International Actor for his performance in Conclave.
The awards also saw recognition in various technical categories such as Best Cinematography, which went to Robbie Ryan for Bird, and Best Costume Design, awarded to Zjena Glamocanin for Kneecap.
The night was a testament to the wealth of talent in both the Irish and international film and TV industries, showcasing a blend of powerful performances, captivating stories, and creative artistry.
