Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha recently opened up about why they don’t seek advice from previous leads of the show

As Bridgerton moves toward its highly anticipated season four, two of its newest cast members, Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha, have shared why they’ve chosen not to seek advice from their predecessors in the series. At the Bridgerton “Season of Love” fan event on February 14, Thompson revealed that while he was initially tempted to reach out to past leads of the show, he ultimately decided to experience the role for himself. He explained to PEOPLE, “How I want, how I feel, how it feels to me.”

Thompson added that the experience of being on the show is so personal that it could fill an entire book. He also praised Bridgerton for its ability to bring a fresh flavor each season, noting how each new installment brings a unique vibe to the series.

Yerin Ha, who plays Sophie Beckett in season four, echoed a similar sentiment. While she has been in touch with past leads like Phoebe Dynevor, Simone Ashley, and Nicola Coughlan, Ha expressed a desire to explore her own journey on the show. She explained, “I just wanted to explore my journey and kind of figure out the wars on my own.”

Despite their independent approaches, both Thompson and Ha have formed a strong bond while working together. Ha shared, “I think we’ve just bonded. There’s just such an openness with Luke, and I think—I like to think I’m quite open with him.” She added that their focus remains on telling the story and accepting each other for who they are, both on and off-screen.

Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton, is eager to see where his character’s journey takes him in the upcoming season, while Ha is excited for fans to see her portrayal of Sophie. Seasons 1-3 of Bridgerton are available for streaming on Netflix, with season four on the horizon.
