Stephen Amell is the new face of the Suits franchise

Stephen Amell is stepping into a new, dynamic role with Suits L.A., the latest extension of the Suits franchise. Known for his action-packed roles, especially as the vigilante in Arrow, Amell reflects on the contrast between his past and current characters. In Suits L.A., Amell plays Ted Black, a character who, behind his confident exterior, hides a vulnerable side—he’s described as “a scared little boy” who no one knows the true depth of. This complexity marks a shift from his previous roles, where physical action and stunts often took center stage.

Amell shared how the mental and emotional demands of playing Ted Black are more exhausting than the physical challenges he’s faced in past roles, emphasizing the toll that dialogue-heavy scenes can take on an actor. As he puts it, the only muscle that hurts now is his brain, pointing to the shift in his craft from action hero to a character who thrives on sharp dialogue and emotional depth.

The actor also teased that Suits L.A. would give him a chance to experiment with new styles of performance—being slick, charming, and delivering crisp lines will all be part of the job. This represents a significant challenge for Amell, but one he’s eager to embrace.

Suits L.A., created by Aaron Korsh, promises to continue the success of the original series with a fresh twist. Alongside Amell, the series will feature an ensemble cast including Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg. Premiering on February 23, 2025, on NBC, it’s set to bring another round of legal drama with a sharp mix of wit and tension, expanding the Suits universe to new heights.
