Pune Woman Assaulted and Robbed After Being Forced Into Intimacy with Cousin

According to authorities on Monday, two men allegedly raped and robbed a 19-year-old lady in the Pune region of Maharashtra at knifepoint when she was with her cousin. Police stated Monday that the two suspects coerced the woman and her cousin into performing a pornographic act and then recorded it before raping her, according to news agency PTI.

According to police quoted in the story, the crime was allegedly conducted on Saturday in Pune’s Shirur tehsil area when two cousins were seated together in a remote location when they were ambushed by two guys in their late twenties. According to the complaint, after raping the woman, the accused reportedly stole gold jewellery from her, including a necklace and a nose ring, and then ran away.

“The pair was threatened with knives by two men in their mid- to late-20s who came on a motorbike. As they filmed the behaviour on their phone, they had them get personal.”

As per PITI, Mahadev Waghmode, senior police inspector of the Ranjangaon police station quoted, “the suspects then allegedly took turns raping the woman and robbing her of a gold pendant and nose ring before escaping the scene.”

The city was still in shock over the alleged rape of a woman in an MSRTC Shivsahi bus that was parked at the Swargate depot in Pune on February 25. The defendant was taken into police custody until March 12 after being apprehended on February 27 following a protracted manhunt.

According to Waghmode, the woman, still in disbelief over what had happened, was able to phone the police and report the crime by dialling 112. The police responded quickly and immediately arrested the suspects. He claimed that based solely on the woman’s description, both of the accused were taken into custody in a matter of hours.

“Our criminal team responded to the call, got in touch with the woman, and promptly filed an offence. Our crew immediately began a manhunt after gathering descriptions of the suspects. Within a few hours, both of the offenders were captured using human intelligence,” Waghmode told PTI.

The jewellery that was stolen has been found, he continued, and the suspects have been placed under police detention until Friday, March 7.
