Around 2.6 million people to lose jobs in UK: Survey

Around 8% or 2.6 million people are about to lose their jobs in the 3rd quarter of the fiscal in the UK according to a survey conducted by the Resolution Foundation

The survey is hinting that the Coronavirus is causing long-term economic damage in the future. The figure also counts the people who have already been told that they will have to resign some time in the future. The survey also found that around 2 million people are on furlough or are unemployed for the past 6 months. Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that the vaccination programme will ensure a quick recovery. He thinks that shops, restaurants and bars will be open after the vaccination is done, leading to more jobs.

Resolution Foundation is hosting an event on Thursday where the policymaker of the Bank of England will speak on the issue of unemployment.
