Karan Johar slams podcasters for spreading negativity about Bollywood fraternity

Filmmaker Karan Johar penned a strong note criticizing podcasters and astrologers for making disrespectful and clickbait content about hardworking members of the industry.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has expressed his displeasure at the rising trend of podcasts and chat shows where guests are invited to make negative comments about Bollywood celebrities. Taking to his Instagram Stories, Karan shared a detailed statement urging people to stop indulging in sensationalism at the cost of others’ reputations.

In his note, Karan wrote, “While I have utmost respect for credible and respectable members of the media, one sub culture of podcasters has emerged from the woodworks… woods that no GPS can locate. They invite guests who have nothing to lose, who haven’t been invited since World War 2, and those guests spew venom and say the most disrespectful things about hardworking and legendary members of our fraternity!”

He further criticized the trend of psychics and astrologers making disturbing predictions, including about people’s deaths. “This needs to stop! Free speech? Yes. Clickbait for followers? No!!” Karan added, emphasizing that such content is both insensitive and exploitative. While he refrained from naming any particular podcast or host, his comments have sparked wide discussions online.

On the professional front, Karan Johar recently co-produced Dhadak 2, starring Triptii Dimri and Sidhant Chaturvedi. Earlier this month, he also won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film for Rocky Aur Rani kii Prem Kahani. Karan will next be seen in a special appearance in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which is set to release on Netflix on September 18.
