Arvind Kejriwal raises safety concerns after sevadar’s murder at Kalkaji temple in Delhi

Following the death of a sewadar in Delhi’s Kalkaji Temple due to a quarrel involving “chunni prasad,” former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday unleashed a vicious attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party for its handling of law and order in the nation’s capital.

Kejriwal shared a post on X, “Didn’t the hands of these miscreants tremble before they brutally murdered the sevadar inside the Kalkaji Temple? If this isn’t a failure of law and order, then what is it?”

“Delhi has gotten so bad under the four BJP motors that these kinds of incidents are now occurring even in temples. Does anyone feel safe in Delhi?” He went on. According to AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bhardwaj, the Delhi police merely threaten and intimidate the law-abiding citizens.

“Every day, the situation in Delhi worsens. All the police are doing is political work. The law-abiding public is merely threatened and intimidated by the police. Gangsters, goons, and thieves are completely unafraid of the cops. They believe that money can be used to handle anything.”

In a post on X, he stated, “We are asking the Police Commissioner for some time.”

A fight over “chunni prasad” led to the death of Yogendra Singh, a 35-year-old sewadar of Delhi’s Kalkaji Temple. According to the Delhi Police, Yogendra Singh, a native of Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, had been employed at the Kalkaji Temple for 14 to 15 years. Around 9:30 p.m., the police received a PCR call and hurried to the area. It was discovered throughout the investigation that the accused individuals visited the Kalkaji Mandir in order to receive darshan.

Singh and the accused got into a fight after the accused sought “chunni prasad.” As things got out of hand, Singh was violently abused by the accused using fists and sticks. According to the police, the man was rushed right away to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he died while receiving treatment. A case has been filed in accordance with BNS Sections 103(1) and 3(5).

Atul Pandey, a 30-year-old Dakshinpuri resident and one of the accused, was immediately taken into custody by the locals and turned over to the police. Investigations are still under progress. According to the authorities, efforts are on to identify and capture the other offenders.

“What I know is that they took him from the Dharamshala around 9 pm,” Raju, a sewadaar (servant) at the Kalkaji Temple, told ANI.

Ten to fifteen people were present. They beat him to death with sticks and iron rods. Yogesh is the name of the deceased. After Yogesh requested them to wait a few minutes while they waited for prasad, they began threatening him. These individuals always arrived in the temple with an aggressive demeanor and demanded that we grant them their requests.
