Indore BJP Mayor’s son criticizes central policies, CM Mohan Yadav praises him

A dramatic political moment occurred at Devi Ahilya University in Indore during a debate competition when Sanghamitra Bhargava, the son of Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, launched a scathing indictment of central government policies. According to The Indian Express, he was given the role of the opposition and spoke in front of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav as well as his father, a BJP politician.

“Crores of rupees have been spent, there have been scams in land acquisition, but the bullet train couldn’t move beyond the government’s PowerPoint presentation,” Sanghamitra stated, naming the bullet train project as his first target. The speech struck a chord outside the school right away. Congress officials were quick to draw attention to it; according to the report, former chief minister Digvijaya Singh called Sanghamitra a “impressive speaker” in a social media post. When chief minister Mohan Yadav later took the microphone, all eyes were on him within the hall.

Instead of expressing displeasure, he praised the intervention, urging clapping and noting that Sanghamitra had discussed the topic “fearlessly.” However, the mayor’s son did not confine himself to the bullet train. He questioned the widely reported “Kavach” technology, which was portrayed as a railway safety measure.

He asserted that over 20,000 individuals had perished in train accidents over the previous ten years, in spite of such assertions. In addition to the coaches breaking, he said, “when a train derails, an old father’s last hope is snatched away, a mother’s lap becomes empty, and a child’s future sinks into darkness.”

He continued by reminding the administration of its pledge to turn 400 train stations into hubs akin to airports. He pointed out the discrepancy between promise and performance by saying, “Only 20 have been developed.” Pushyamitra Bhargava, his father, has established himself as a dependable and disciplined BJP politician who has promoted civic projects, digital governance, and smart city initiatives while promoting Indore’s reputation as “India’s cleanest city.”

When questioned about his son’s venomous comments, the mayor brushed off any indication of conflict. These were his personal opinions. He made both arguments for and against. He received recognition for his performance from the organizers. “As usual, the Congress confuses politics for sports and sports for politics,” he remarked. Yadav, the chief minister, also tried to diffuse the tension.

“I’ll give my nephew Sanghamitra a hearty round of applause.” The way he has boldly expressed his opinions…” he remarked, adding that the comments were perfectly acceptable.
