According to authorities on Saturday, eleven second-year BBA students from Kerala were taken into custody in Mangaluru on suspicion of attempting to sell and possess large amounts of cannabis. On Thursday night, a Mangaluru South Police team under the command of PSI Sheetal Alagur stormed an apartment close to Kaprigudde Mosque in Attavar after receiving a tip.
According to the police, all of the defendants were residing in the city to pursue their college education. 12.26 kg of cannabis, purportedly from Odisha and packaged in seven bundles, were found during the raid. According to the police, the amount and style of packaging suggested an effort to sell in bulk. The estimated value of the confiscated contraband is ₹2.45 lakh.
Mobile phones valued at ₹1.05 lakh and weighing equipment worth ₹2,000 were also found, bringing the total value of the confiscated property to ₹3.52 lakh. According to police, the source claim is supported by the accused’s remarks during initial interrogation, which are being verified.
At Mangaluru South Police Station, a case has been filed in accordance with the pertinent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. According to police, more research is being done to find additional potential suspects and the larger network that is connected to the case.
