The Delhi Court, on Monday, sent activist Disha Ravi to one-day police custody after the Delhi Police demanded a 5-day extension in connection with the toolkit case.
The Delhi Police demanded Ravi’s custody to question her along with two other accused Nikita Jacob and Shantanu in the case.
Ravi was presented in court after her three-day judicial custody ended. The 22-year-old was arrested on February 13 and initially sent to five-day police custody.
The 22-year-old climate change activist posted a toolkit in relation to the ongoing farmers’ protests. Ravi’s lawyer Siddharth Agarwal has opposed the plea saying, “The police have a right to interrogate the accused even in jail. Why would you require to take her in police custody?”
Ravi’s bail plea is still pending. The court in the last hearing asked the police how the toolkit is connected to any violence that took place during the farmers’ protest and if the police was acting only on supposed inferences.
