Jhund star Priyanshu Chhetri murdered in a drunken altercation in Nagpur at the age of 21; friend arrested

Priyanshu Chhetri, who gained recognition for his supporting role in the 2022 film Jhund alongside Amitabh Bachchan, was fatally attacked by a friend in Nagpur following a drunken altercation, shocking the film fraternity and fans.

Tragedy struck the film world as Priyanshu Chhetri, also known as Babu Ravi Singh Chhetri, passed away at the age of 21. The young actor, who was recognized for his role in the 2022 sports drama Jhund starring Amitabh Bachchan and directed by Nagraj Manjule, was murdered in Nagpur following a drunken dispute with a friend.

According to police reports, Priyanshu and the accused, 20-year-old Dhruv Lal Bahadur Sahu, had a history of drinking together. On Tuesday night, the duo went to an abandoned house in Nagpur’s Jaripatka area for a drinking session. During the night, an argument broke out, with Priyanshu reportedly threatening Sahu before falling asleep.

Police said Sahu, fearing harm, tied Priyanshu with plastic wires and attacked him with a sharp weapon, leaving him severely injured and half-naked. Locals spotted the scene and Priyanshu was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The accused has been arrested.

Jhund, directed by Nagraj Manjule, portrays the real-life story of Vijay Barse, the founder of Slum Soccer in India. Priyanshu’s role in the film earned him recognition in the industry, and his untimely death has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a promising young talent.
