The Girlfriend box office opening weekend: Rashmika Mandanna and Dheekshith Shetty’s film grosses ₹10.50 crore worldwide, needs stronger trends ahead

The Girlfriend made Rs. 10.50 crore at the global box office during its respectable first weekend. On its first day of release in India, the film made a meagre Rs. 1.50 crore. On the second day, it collected Rs. 2.50 crore, a 40% increase.

On the third day, the film saw yet another increase, earning Rs. 3 crore, and it ended the first weekend at the domestic box office with a gross of Rs. 7 crore. The film also found a home in foreign markets, where it made USD 450K in its first three days of release, narrowly exceeding the double-digit threshold.

The weekend trend has been favourable despite the poor start. The film still needs to perform much better. Now, everyone’s focus is on its Monday hold and its performance during the week. By the end of its theatrical run, the film will have a nice sum if it holds up well and has strong trends.

The Girlfriend, which was directed by Rahul Ravindran, has been well appreciated by both reviewers and viewers, which is a significant victory for a movie with so many female characters. In addition to Rashmika Mandanna, the film features Rohini, Anu Emmanuel, Dheekshith Shetty, and Rao Ramesh. In the upcoming days, the positive word-of-mouth should result in foot traffic.
